Bongin Bongin Bay - World Ocean Day Dive

We’re proud to have adopted Bongin Bongin Bay through the PADI AWARE Adopt the Blue initiative. As part of the program, we’ll be carrying out regular biodiversity surveys to better understand the marine life that calls this incredible site home.

The data we collect will also support the Friends of Bongin Bongin Bay in their ongoing work to have this special area recognised as a marine sanctuary zone, helping protect it for future generations of divers, snorkellers, and ocean lovers alike.

How can you help?

Come along, jump in for a dive, and share what you’ve spotted underwater. It’s as simple as that! Not a diver? No worries. The day will also feature First Nations celebrations, art exhibits, plus plenty happening for families and kids throughout the day.

It’s a brilliant chance for divers, ocean lovers, friends, and families to come together and celebrate everything we love about the ocean.

Event Timings

8:00 AM: The Bongin Bongin Bay Ukulele Band and guest singer kick things off with music and singing

9:00 AM: Beachside Welcome to the Whales ceremony featuring a didgeridoo and smoking ceremony

9:45 AM: Dive Site & Safety Briefing

10:00 AM: The inaugural Bongin Bongin Bay scuba dive & biodiversity survey, conditions permitting

10:45 AM: Warm pumpkin soup for all scuba divers and artists. Plus, you get to keep your Bongin Bongin Bay mug!

1:00 PM: Wrap up
